Yoga Teacher/ Therapist at Integrative and Wellness Center

Integrative Health & Wellness Center is pleased to announce the addition of a new specialist our group.  Steve Thoman, CSYT, & RYT 500 (Certified Svaroopa Yoga Teacher and Registered Yoga Teacher 500 hours) will now be offering Private Yoga Sessions and Embodyment Yoga Therapy treatments to clients at Integrative Health and Wellness Center.  The private sessions and treatments that Steve offers are a wonderful way to complement and even accelerate the work that a client does with Dr. Linda, Joy Mandler, and George Mandler.  Based on the clients’ needs, Steve is able to tailor make and teach personalized yoga poses or offer an Embodyment Yoga Therapy treatment that will address and treat an individual’s specific health concerns and issues.

What to expect in a Private Yoga Session?

A Private Yoga Session is the most effective way to learn the poses that will assist a client in treating a particular issue.   The one on one instruction provides the client with the best understanding of how to do the poses, and then work on them on their own after the session. Steve will work with a client for approximately an hour and teach them specific yoga poses (usually about 5 or 6 per session) that will help to address and treat the clients’ individual needs.  Steve is able to work with each individual, regardless of age or ability, to make the poses fit the client, often times modifying or using props to provide more benefit.  After an hour the client will often feel immediate results and leave with a firm grasp of their own “tailor made” yoga poses. In addition they will know how to continue practicing these poses on their own for a more lasting and cumulative benefit.

What to expect in a Embodyment Yoga Therapy Session?

Embodyment Yoga Therapy is a gentle yet powerful hands-on technique that accelerates healing in the body.  Even if you have never taken a yoga class, a client can receive the benefits of 6-10 yoga classes in one hour! During an Embodyment session, the client rests fully supported in Shavasana, yoga’s relaxation pose. The therapist gently encourages the release of deeply held tensions in the body by placing their hands on specific points on the client’s lower back and along the spine. This process creates a profound opening in the client’s body that “jump-starts” the body’s own innate healing ability.  Benefits of a one hour session include pain relief, reduction of stress, increased energy, and a deep sense of relaxation and inner peace. An Embodyment session is a wonderful and effective way to complement any healing work.
